What is a paper print?

A fine art paper print is created from a digital file (300 dpi) and printed on high quality acid free paper (which prevents the print from deteriorating over time). Paper prints can be mounted on the wall as a poster, or they can be framed. On the right you can see a paper print of, "Black Birch Eyes in the Shadows (unframed)."

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to frame a paper print? How do I frame a paper print?

Unless you want to hang your paper print on the wall "poster style," most people will get their paper print framed. The easiest framing option is to take your print to a local art or framing store (for example, Michaels or OPUS). If I know of a good frame or mat for a print, I will put a link in the print's description!

On the right you can see a paper print of, "Pervading Silence," with a mat (the white border that separates the print and the white wood) and a frame. You can find a similar mat (Chai 4ply Mat Warm White - 8"X12" Window) here, and a similar frame (BOD Thin V73 Black: 12"x16") here.

Q2

What is a stretched canvas print? Do I need to frame a stretched canvas print?

A stretched canvas print is created from a digital file (300 dpi), printed on canvas and stretched over wooden stretcher bars. Leaving a stretched canvas print unframed is a popular choice, but there are framing options.

On the right you can see a stretched canvas print of, "Velvet Ridges," on 3/4" depth stretcher bars, with black edges (unframed). Stretched print canvases will look very similar to the original painting but will lack paint texture (the surface of the print will be flat). As with framing a paper print, the best way to frame a stretched canvas print is to take it to a local art or framing store (for example, Michaels or OPUS).
